While you are staying at Emerald Inn Takapuna, there is plenty to see and do so we have compiled a list of some of our favourites as well as spots that our guests have particularly enjoyed:
Takapuna Beach is located on one of Auckland's most beautiful coastlines and has a breathtaking view of the Rangitoto Island. Find a spot on the beach for sunbathing, enjoy a swim or walk along the rocks.
A walk along the coastal walkway past the popular swimming spot at Thornes Bay will take you to Milford Beach. This walk is a popular walk with locals and visitors alike.
Located on The Promenade, Takapuna Beach Cafe has great views of the beach and serves delicious breakfasts and lunches.
If you're looking for a spot of shopping, a short walk from Takapuna boutique fashion stores. The Shore City shopping centre houses a number of retailers to cater for all shopping needs.
Takapuna has become a culinary destination for many Aucklanders. A popular addition to Takapuna's restaurant scene are the three restaurants in The Strand overlooking the water Rangitoto Island (Regatta, Tokyo Bay and Franc's). Close to Emerald Inn is Al Forno, with its wonderful lively atmosphere and great staff. GPK just a few steps away has become an identity in Takapuna, popular for its 'designer pizzas' and friendly service. Tok Tok is a new Asian fusion restaurant offering a relaxed atmosphere and tasty fare. A little further away in Northcote is The Engine Room. Reservations are essential for this restaurant.
For a relaxing coffee you will find numerous new cafes within the Takapuna central area. Remember to visit 40 on Hurstmere opposite the post office where you will find great food for the whole family and coffee. Madam Woo is a short walk across the car park from here.
Visit Lake Pupuke, Auckland's only lake and located roughly 500m from sea. Lake Pupuke is popular for water sports including kayaking, wind surfing and sailing.
